THE CHALLENGE

The NFL in the US undertakes a wide variety of social impact work and is one of the leading sports organisations using its influence and assets to affect positive social change. Having grown its footprint in the UK, hosting games for the last 10 years, the NFL launched a foundation in the UK to expand the work they had successfully delivered in the UK. They wanted help to develop the aims, objectives, governance and programming of the new Foundation.

THE SOLUTION

thinkBeyond supported the NFL to create the strategy for the Foundation, building their Theory of Change, identifying the impact they wanted to make and the assets they had in order to achieve that impact. thinkBeyond developed a strategy that is yet to be launched but focuses on three areas: Unite – Bringing diverse young people together in environments that promote belonging; Upskill – Helping young people develop the skills and confidence to find and realise their potential and Advocate -Providing young people with pathways and platforms to take ownership of their futures. We also supported them on ensuring that the governance of the new foundation was in-line with Sport England requirements and helped to develop their board composition.  

THE IMPACT

The Foundation has already secured match-funding partnerships with The Mayor of London, Sport England and many of their commercial partners have also committed to supporting the work. The Foundation will launch in late 2021.
