Fred Turner

As Executive Director of Beyond Sport, he leads on efforts to place sport at the heart of addressing the world’s most pressing issues through funding, capacity building, partnerships and campaigning. He oversees the delivery of global multi-million dollar grant giving programmes and collaborates with a range of partners, including: sport leagues (the NBA, Premier League, NFL and MLB); teams (LA Dodgers Foundation, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation) academic institutions (NYU and George Washington University); brands (ESPN, DICK’S Sporting Goods, SAP, and WWE); funders (Sport England, UK Sport and Comic Relief); and, a diverse array of international NGOs and UN entities in order to fully utilise Beyond Sport’s platform for good.

Since taking the role, he has transformed the Foundation’s structure and team, including a new global Board of Directors and inaugural Youth Advisory Board while launching new programmes that focus on addressing equity, diversity and inclusion in sector and racial justice across the U.S..

Fred is passionate about bringing people of varied backgrounds and experiences together, united by a specific cause, sector or focus, to trigger cycles of change through education and partnerships. He has spent much of his career delivering on this through curating insightful event programs, engaging experts and managing stakeholders for gatherings delivered virtually and in person, including in: Mexico City, Cape Town, New York, Paris, Philadelphia, San Francisco, London, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Johannesburg and more. Prior to Beyond Sport, Fred worked with prominent UK sport and business network, Sport Industry Group, and global corporate relay initiative, Square Mile Sport – helping both organisations by helping to lead their events, production and content offerings. Fred sits on the Commonwealth’s Open Ended Working Group for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the BOND SDP Group, and is a regular judge for the biggest commercial sport business awards in the world, the annual Sport Industry Awards.
